Most failed driveways aren’t a surface problem. They’re a sub-base problem. Here’s the order we do things in, and why.
Survey & fixed quote
We come out, measure up and check levels, drainage and access. You get an itemised written price that doesn’t move — not a rough figure over the phone.
Dig out & sub-base
Excavated to depth, spoil taken away, then Type 1 MOT laid and compacted in layers. This is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether a drive lasts five years or twenty-five.
Drainage & edgings
Since 2008 a new front driveway must be permeable or drain to a soakaway rather than the road. We set haunched edge restraints and fit channel drains or soakaways so it’s right with Building Regs.
Lay, compact & clear
Surface laid and cut in, whacked down, jointed and swept. We take the waste with us and we don’t leave until you’ve walked it with us.
The outfit
Everything arrives on the day.
Plant, materials and the same crew from dig-out to sweep-up. Nothing waits on a hire yard and nothing gets handed to a subcontractor halfway through.

ROHK is a family-run building and groundworks firm based in Fareham, working across the surrounding villages and the wider South Coast. Twenty years in, we still run a small qualified team rather than subcontracting jobs out — so the people who quote your driveway are the people who lay it.
That’s the whole business model. We’d rather do forty jobs a year properly and have the neighbours ask who did it than chase volume and leave a trail of sunken blocks behind us.
